The purpose of the Emergent Leadership Institute is to engage young people to become holistic members of their community through volunteerism and service learning.

The Emergent Leadership Institute will do this through four very distinct programs:

•    www.helpindyonline.com - (Now Running) This Internet based volunteer center is designed to build a bridge between the service agencies in Indianapolis that our staff is building personal relationships with and the large base of potential young volunteers (over 100,000) from the area.

•    CAP’s – (Now Running) CAP’s or Community Access Points are user centered programs designed to connect Indianapolis area young people to local non-profits. These CAP’s can take the form of several types of programs The goal of ELI is to work directly with schools or other youth serving agencies to determine what will be most effective for their population of student.

•    Coexist Gapyear– (Fall of ’08) Through a yearlong residential service learning internship, college students will gain a personal understanding of their role as servant leaders in the community through reflection, personal and in groups, of their direct service positions.

•    Camp ELI – (Summer of ’09) High school students will attend a two-week inner-city summer camp experience developed around servant leadership through civic engagement in their community.

Currently we are focusing the majority of our energy on "www.helpindyonline.com " the aforementioned website dedicated to connecting volunteers with appropriate opportunities to serve the Indianapolis community. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of our staff or board members through the profiles provided in the navigational menu located on the left side of this site.
